1、课程性质
《实用英语》是我院非英语专业学生必修的一门公共素质课程,是面向学生最广,师资力量投入最集中的学院重点建设课程。开课时间为三学期,周课时为4学时,共计168课时。通过本课程的教学,使学生掌握一定的英语基础知识,具备一定的听、说、读、写、译能力,能够在日常活动和职业领域中进行简单的口头和书面交流,并为学生后续专业课程学习以及职业生涯可持续发展提供有力的支撑。其先修课程是高中英语,后续课程为专业英语。
2、课程设计思路
本课程的设计理念可以用三句话概括,即实用为主、够用为度;服务专业、重在应用;以生为本,促进发展。根据这样的设计理念,我们得出了本课程的整体设计思路:基础教学模块+应用能力训练模块。以基础教学模块,巩固英语基础知识,训练英语基本技能;以应用能力训练模块强化与职业领域对接的英语应用能力。经管类、医学服务类专业以听说交际能力培养为主,适当兼顾阅读翻译能力训练;其他类专业以阅读翻译能力培养为主,适当兼顾交际能力训练。
3、课程目标
课程总体目标:通过本课程学习,学生能掌握英语基础知识和技能,能运用英语处理未来工作的实际问题,增强职业能力,提高综合文化素养。
3-1知识目标
1)认知2500个英语单词以及相关常用词组;
2)掌握基本的英语语法规则,包括各种词性的用法、时态、语态、语气、非谓语动词、主谓一致,倒装等;
3)掌握应用文体的写作格式和常用句型。
4)掌握日常和涉外交际中的常用句型;
5)了解基本的听力、阅读和翻译技巧;
3-2能力目标
1)能正确拼写1500个左右的单词并进行英汉互译;
2)能在听、说、读、写、译中正确运用所学语法知识;
3)能听懂简短的英语对话和陈述,理解基本正确;
4)能运用所学词汇和语法写出100词左右的命题作文,能填写和套写简短的英语应用文;
5)能在日常涉外活动中用英语进行简单的交流(经管类、医学服务类)
6)能读懂一般业务材料并将其译成汉语(其他类)

1)树立正确的人生观和价值观;

5、实施建议
5-1教材及参考资料
(1)教材选用(或教材编写)
本课程基础英语教学模块选用“十一五”国家级规划教材《新编实用英语》(高等教育出版社)和《21世纪大学实用英语》(复旦大学出版社)。其中,《新编实用英语》选材更加贴近生活、工作,尤其注重听说技能的培养,非常适合经管类和医学服务类专业使用。《21世纪大学实用英语》选材更加贴近人文、历史,尤其注重基本词汇的积累、阅读技能的培养和人文素质的渗透,适合其他类专业使用。应用能力训练模块选用行业英语系列教材和自编的校本教材:《交际能力训练手册》(经管类、医学服务类专业用)和《阅读翻译能力训练手册》(其他类专业用)。此外,课程组教师还精心编写了《应用能力B级应试教程》和《职场英语考试应试指南》,以满足学生考证的需要。
(2)参考资料选用
本课程选用《前景实用英语》(主编:徐小贞 复旦大学出版社 2011年版)、《实用综合教程》(主编:王守仁 上海外语教育出版社出版 2010年版)、《新视野大学英语》(主编:郑树棠 外语教学与研究出版社 2002年版)等作为重要的教学参考资料。
5-2教学方法手段
本课程尝试突破以教师为主体的讲授式教学模式的束缚,建立以学生为主体的互动式课堂教学模式。教师根据教学内容和学生特点,灵活运用多种教学方法,如联想教学法、情景教学法、任务教学法、趣味教学法等,充分调动学生的学习积极性。以情景教学法为例,在对经管类专业的学生进行 “外宾接待”交际项目训练时,教师会为学生设计这样一个情景:假如你是泰州LG公司的业务部经理张毅,负责接待来自澳大利亚的业务伙伴索普先生。接待过程包含如下具体场景:1. 张毅到机场接索普先生。2.张毅带索普先生到会宾楼宾馆办理入住手续3.张毅陪同索普先生参加欢迎宴会,将总经理夏阳介绍给索普先生认识。4.在欢迎宴会上,公司总经理夏阳代表公司致欢迎词。5.两天之后,张毅到机场为索普先生送行。学生在上述情景中真实地体验工作,运用语言,学以致用。同时多媒体教学、自主学习室助学、课外活动促学等多样化教学手段的运用保证了课程的整体教学效果。
5-3考核评价
本课程的评价采用过程性评价和终结性评价相结合的方式。过程性评价占50%,评价内容根据专业大类的不同而略有差异。经管类、医学服务类专业的过程性评价项目包括上课出勤、课堂表现及作业、交际能力阶段考核。其他类专业的过程性评价项目包括上课出勤、课堂表现及作业、阅读翻译能力阶段考核。终结性评价占50%,主要采取期末卷面考试的形式。同时本课程有一定的考证要求,即第三学期参加应用能力B级考试(必考)和职场英语考试(选考)。

5-4教学条件和环境
课堂上依托多媒体教室开展基础英语教学和英语应用能力训练,课后依托英语俱乐部、疯狂英语奇才营开展丰富的第二课堂活动,利用自主学习室开展英语自主学习和技能竞赛培训。但是目前本课程开展实践教学的场所还是非常有限的。只有逐步将校内语音室改造为一体化语言能力实训室,同时努力开拓校外实践教学基地,才能满足课程进一步改革和发展的需要。
5-5课程资源开发与应用
本课程校本教材的开发和应用成效显著。课程组教师编写的《交际能力训练手册》、《阅读翻译能力训练手册》、《语音练习手册》、《应用能力B级应试教程》和《职场英语考试应试指南》被先后应用于课堂教学和课后训练中,效果良好。
本课程数字化教辅资源的开发也初见成效。配有完整的电子教案、电子课件和测试题库和学生自主学习光盘,教学过程中积累了大量的影像、图片和视频资料。同时和高教社共享的中国外语网以及正在建设当中的精品课程网站也将为学生提供丰富的网络学习资源。
5-6其它说明
1. 英语应用能力B级考试
本考试以《高职高专教育英语课程教学基本要求》为依据,既测试语言知识也测试语言技能,既测试一般性语言内容也测试涉外业务有关内容。
一、考试对象:适用于修完《基本要求》所规定的全部内容的高等职业教育、普通高等专科教育和成人高等教育各专业的学生。
二、考试方法和内容
考试方式为笔试,包括五个部分:
(1)听力理解、
(2)词汇用法和语法结构、
(3)阅读理解、
(4)翻译(英译汉)
(5)写作(或汉译英)
三、考试范围:《基本要求》所规定的全部内容。

2. 职场英语考试
随着经济全球化的深入发展,对外经济文化交流合作和商务往来日益频繁,各类职业对从业人员英语应用能力的要求也越来越高。为了进一步提升我国各类职业人才的职场英语能力,提升我国职场英语教学的总体水平,满足各用人单位对国际化合格职业人才的需求,中华人民共和国商务部领导下的直属机构---中国国际贸易学会开发和组织了“全国职场英语考试(一级)”,考试总分为100分,成绩60以上(含60分)为通过,考试通过者可获得中国国际贸易学会颁发的全国职场英语证书(一级)。
一、考试性质:本考试是职业英语应用能力考试,是一种标准参照考试,评价被测试者在典型工作情景下应用英语听、说、读、写、译技能完成工作流程中相关任务的能力。难易度相当于英语应用能力考试A与B之间。
二、 考试对象:各类职业技术院校在校学生,有意提高职场英语应用能力以适应涉外企事业单位需求的在职人员、以及其他社会人员。
三、 岗位描述:通过此考试的考生能够较熟练运用英语听、说、读、写和译的技能,承担日常办公、公务旅行、客户服务等基础性工作,完成日常接待、收发邮件、约见登记、办公设备操作、翻译简单商务信函等任务。
四、 证书功效:本考试是对职业英语应用能力的测试,考试结果可作为用人单位和教育培训机构评价相关人员职业英语能力的参考依据,证书得到全国各类企业认可。
